Growing up I always had a passion for drawing. My homework looked more like art projects than math problems – covered in sketches and doodles. Though I was interested in graphic design throughout high school, I didn't think of it as a career path. So I set out to become a Meteorologist at St Cloud State University. After three semesters calculus still wasn't making sense, and all my homework once again looked like art projects. It was time to check out the art department and the world of graphic design.
The next six semesters developed my mind and sharpened my skill set, both in the art studio and on the computer. Upon graduation, I got a job as a full time graphic designer. As an in-house designer, I wore several hats. Experience was gained in many areas including time management, communication and presentation. After three years, I decided it was time to expand all of my creative channels by offering them as a professional service.
Don't worry, I'm not trying to do everything myself. I have assembled a team of independent consultants that have professional experience in their respective fields. This includes programming, search engine optimization, marketing and copy writing. Together, we are able to form the right strategy and solution required to complete the project objective.
Where does art fit into all of this? Right in the middle, of course! It was about this time I realized I missed getting my hands dirty. I dusted off the art supplies and began drawing, painting and screen printing. I continue to expand techniques in familiar and unfamiliar mediums. The variety of challenges keeps my mind fresh, and my hands busy.
