Drawing

Drawing
This is where it all began. My drawings have traveled many mediums, each one requiring a different technique. Had I not been bored in class, would my favorite drawing medium be a cheap ball point pen? Drawing has laid the foundation for me as an artist. Just about everything I work on starts with a sketch.
Painting

Painting
I really didn't begin painting until after college. One day I decided to just mix some colors and slap them on the canvas. Much to my surprise, abstract painting was not intimidating at all. I found it to be a vibrant way to use color and texture. Much of my work utilizes an unordinary "canvas". Using a nontraditional background allows it to become part of the painting's form and personality.
Screen Printing

Screenprinting
Similar to painting, I didn't do much screenprinting until after college. An Aesthetic Apparatus poster exhibit during school really sparked my interest. Years later, a small t-shirt kit with 3 colors got the wheels rolling for me. Soon I began enoying the rich, solid colors and reproductive qualities of screenprinting. As that final layer of ink is pulled, a print really comes together.
The Gourdies

The Gourdies
Some of my proudest and most recent work. They just make me smile. Even though I love creating these little guys, I enjoy seeing viewer's reactions even more. No matter the age or gender, people seem to really draw connections to specific Gourdies. Perhaps one reminds them of a friend, or another brings back a childhood memory. Some people even build a little story around them.
